Youth Defensive Driving School

Defensive Driving School (DDS) is offered to anyone 21 years old or younger who receive a moving violation but has never had a ticket. The youth who received the moving violation must attend court on the assigned court date to ask the Judge and to sign up for driving school. In addition to attending the DDS class the Judge orders you to write a 5 page essay about what you learned in the class.

Adult Defensive Driving School

DDS is offered to any adult who has not received a ticket in the past three years. The adult must pay the cost of the ticket plus $10, and the cost of the class, $45.00.

IF YOU HAVE A CDL LICENSE YOU CAN NOT ATTEND DEFENSIVE DRIVING SCHOOL.

Cost of the Class is $45.00
You will be signed up while you are in Court and given the date of your class.

Upon Completion of the Class

Once the four-hour class has been completed, the instructor will issue a certificate that you must bring back to the court clerk’s office the following Monday after the class. Youth students must also bring their 5 page essay back with their certificate.

Once the certficate(and essay for youth) has been received by the Court Office, the ticket will be dismissed (in the youth’s case) or not reported to the State (in the adult’s case).
